Kayaker Transported After Recreational Accident

At 10:59 hours this morning, Skamania County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call of a young male who had sustained a possible back injury from a kayaking accident on the East Fork of the Lewis River in the Lower Falls area of the Gifford Pinchot National Forest, approximately 30 miles east of Cougar, WA. A coordinated effort between Skamania County Sheriff’s Deputies, North Country Emergency Medical Services, Clark County Fire Dist 6, and Volcano Rescue Team led to the successful extraction of the patient via rope rescue.

19 year old Joseph Grudger from Georgia was transported to South West Medical Center by North Country Emergency Medical Services.
