Search Suspended Till The End Of The Week For Missing Vancouver Woman

MEDIA RELEASE

Monday, 11 June, 2013

***UPDATE***

5:30 PM

Search operations will be suspended as of 8:00 PM this evening until the end of the week  for a missing 19 year old Vancouver, WA woman.  Maureen Kelly, 19, of Vancouver Washington was last seen Sunday afternoon about 5:00 PM in the Canyon Creek area of western Skamania County.    Kelly had left the Canyon Creek Campground  just after 5:00 PM on Sunday afternoon to go on a “spiritual quest” on foot and was reported just after midnight early Monday morning as overdue.   She was reported to be naked and had little as far as supplies and equipment with her.

“12 4×4 Search teams searched the area again today and we were unable to locate Ms. Kelly”, said Sheriff Dave Brown.  “They found nothing that is related to this search and rescue mission.  We will have Deputies continue to check the area for the next couple of days and at that time we will reevaluate our options if Ms Kelly does not return from her spiritual quest”.

Weather in the search area was periods of drizzle with temperatures in the lower 50’s.

“We are again asking anyone from the public that may have been in the area of Canyon Creek and the FS 54 road from early Sunday afternoon to early Monday morning  to contact our office if they may have seen Ms Kelly on her quest,” Undersheriff Dave Cox said.

The number for the Skamania County Sheriff’s Office is 509-427-9490.

Additional information will be released as it becomes available.
