MEDIA RELEASE

Friday, June 14, 2013

***UPDATE***

2:00 PM

Search operations will resume Saturday morning at 8:00 AM for 19 year old Maureen Kelly of Vancouver Washington.  Resources have been requested to be at the Search Command Post located at the USFS Mt St Helens National Volcanic Monument headquarters in Amboy, WA for briefing prior to going into the field.  Approximately 50 state certified searchers have advised they will be available for the all day search effort.

“We will be continuing search operations from earlier this week and will be expanding the search area to attempt to locate Ms Kelly”, said Undersheriff Dave Cox.  “We are hopeful we will find her and bring closure to this incident.”

Ms Kelly was last seen Sunday afternoon about 5:00 PM in the Canyon Creek area of western Skamania County.    She had left the Canyon Creek Campground  just after 5:00 PM on Sunday afternoon to go on a “spiritual quest” on foot and was reported just after midnight early Monday morning as overdue.   She was reported to be naked and had little as far as supplies and equipment with her.

There will be a media briefing scheduled for 10:00 am at the Command Post area located at the USFS Mt St Helens National Volcanic Monument headquarters in Amboy, WA.
