Search Continues for Missing Kentucky Man

The Skamania County Sheriff’s Office is continuing to search for a missing man from Kentucky who was last seen in the Gifford Pinchot National Forest near Lone Butte approximately 31 miles north of Carson WA.

Glenn “Austin” Oldfield, 39 years of age, from Louisville Kentucky last had text message contact with his girlfriend on September 17th.  Oldfield was set to spend two weeks in the southwest Washington camping.

The last known sighting of Oldfield was on September 19th when two hunters had contact with him near Lone Butte.  The hunters attempted to help Oldfield who told them he was from Kentucky and was lost.  When the hunters offered to show Oldfield the way to the road, he turned and ran the opposite direction.

The search efforts have focused on the area where the car and campsite were located.  Approximately 6 searchers and 2 dog teams searched on Wednesday and 14 searchers and a dog team looked for Oldfield on Thursday.   Search coordinators for the Sheriff’s Office have about 15 ground searchers today.

The Sheriff’s Office will continue search efforts on Saturday in the event Oldfield is not located after today’s search is concluded.
