November 2, 2015

A traffic collision early Sunday morning resulted in the death of a Carson Washington man and injured 3 other local residents.

The Skamania County Sheriff’s dispatch center received a 911 call at approximately 12:14 am Sunday morning reporting a traffic collision at the intersection of Hot Springs Avenue and Smith Beckon road.

Carson resident James Pat, 21 years of age died at the scene of the collision.  Pat was a passenger in the vehicle driven by Tanner Lloyd, 21 years of age from Stabler, Washington.  Lloyd and Pat were traveling south on Smith Beckon road in a 1993 Honda Civic when they collided with the second vehicle, a 2002 Acura, driven by Rylie Olsen 19 years old of Carson.  Faith Udall, 20 years of age was a passenger in the vehicle driven by Olsen.

Skamania County Sheriff’s deputies arrived at the scene along with Carson Fire district 1 and Skamania County EMS. Olsen was observed outside the vehicle on the ground and Udall had gone to a nearby residence to get help. Lloyd was trapped in the vehicle and first responders began the process of extricating him.

Lloyd, Udall and Olsen were all transported to the hospital with serious injuries.

It appears the Acura driven by Olsen was preparing to turn left from Hot Springs Avenue onto Smith Beckon Road when they were struck by the southbound civic driven by Lloyd.

The Skamania County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the collision with assistance from the Washington State Patrol.
