Assault II w/ Deadly Weapon – Assault II Domestic Violence
On 4/7/16 at approximately 7:30 pm, Skamania County Dispatch received a 911 call reporting a fight in-progress involving a knife. Deputies were immediately dispatched and learned while en route two neighbors were attempting to intervene in the assault.
Deputies arrived at 1352 Riverside Drive in the Prindle area of Skamania County. They observed two adult males holding down another male subject. Their investigation revealed, Richard M. Abbott, 45, of Prindle and his ex-girlfriend/current roommate, Laura M. Jackson, 45, had become involved in a physical altercation. A neighbor, Fred J. Levine, 62, of Prindle and his friend, Zachary D. Wilson, 42, of Prindle, heard and observed the altercation. They intervened at which point Abbott retrieved a knife and allegedly assaulted Levine, cutting his knee.
Abbott was taken into custody and booked into the Skamania County Jail on a charge of Assault 2nd degree Domestic Violence – Strangulation. He is also being charged with a second count of Assault 2nd degree w/a Dangerous Weapon.
“Mr. Levine and Mr. Wilson went above and beyond in order to prevent serious injury to Ms. Jackson. Both men took immediate action without hesitation and their efforts are greatly appreciated, “ said Undersheriff Pat Bond.
