Hiker Falls on Archer Mountain

On April 15, 2016 at approximately 4:35 pm, the Skamania County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call from a hiker on Archer Mountain, 6 miles NW of North Bonneville, Washington. Wyatt Glaeser, 16, of Skamania, Washington reported he’d been hiking on Archer Mountain when he fell, striking his head. He told dispatchers he was currently sitting on a ledge and needed assistance getting down.

Deputies, Fire District #5, Skamania County EMS/Rescue all responded to the area. A state DEM mission was requested and a Search & Rescue was initiated. Medical personnel were able to reach Wyatt and stabilize him, while a request for a helicopter extraction was requested.

The King County Sheriff’s Office air unit responded and utilized a hoist to remove Glaeser to an awaiting ambulance for transport.

“We appreciate the efforts of our EMS and volunteer first responders to ensure a positive outcome to this rescue. I would also like to thank the King County Sheriff’s Office air unit for their response to this incident,” said Undersheriff Pat Bond.
