Injured Hiker At Lower Falls Campground

At approximately 2:00 pm on Saturday, June 4th, The Skamania County Sheriff’s Office received a report of an injured hiker near the Lower Falls Campground, 32 miles east of Cougar, Washington.

Stephanie Amell, 37, of Yelm, Washington was hiking with her boyfriend below Lower Falls, attempting to reach the water’s edge. Information received was she tripped and fell, vertically, approximately 10-15 feet. She was reporting arm, rib, and back pain.

A Deputy, along with North County EMS responded. Amell was being assisted by other hikers and campers in the area. She was then transported by ambulance to the Swift Campground and transferred to Life Flight. Amell was flown to Emanuel Hospital for treatment of her injuries.
