Injured snowmobile rider near Mt. St. Helens

On Saturday March 10th  at approximately 11am, the Skamania County Sheriff’s 911 center received a call reporting an injured snowmobile rider on the Plains of Abraham on the northeast side of Mt. St. Helens.

Trent Simonson, 20 years of age from Brush Prairie, was riding near the base of Mt St Helens when he reportedly hit a snow wall after going airborne approximately 50 feet.

A Skamania County deputy responded to the Marble Mt. Sno-Park and the Volcano Rescue Team was dispatched along with North Country EMS.   A Life Flight helicopter was also dispatched and was able to locate Simonson and subsequently load him into the helicopter and transport him to Peace Health Medical center in Vancouver.  Simonson sustained serious injuries and currently there is no update on his condition.
