Monday, 5 November 2018 0930 AM On Saturday, November 3, 2018, at approximately 12:27PM the Skamania County Sheriff’s Office received a call advising of a deceased subject in the Swift Reservoir, near the Swift Camp Ground, 18 miles east of Cougar, Washington. The reporting party, Paul Taylor, stated he was with a group of scouts at the campground and they made the discovery. Deputies responded and confirmed the information received. The deceased was identified as Garrett M. Canada, 18, of Kelso, Washington. He was reported missing on October 15, 2018 while hiking near Lava Canyon. An extensive multi-day search was conducted at the time he was reported missing and evidence suggested he had fallen into the water at that time. Mr. Canada was transported to the Clark County Medical Examiner’s office for autopsy.
