Sheriff’s Office Investigates Robbery

On Tuesday, November 12, 2019, at approximately 9:09 pm The Skamania County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call from a neighbor reporting a disturbance at an address on Highland Road in Washougal, WA. The caller advised he could hear a vehicle revving their engine, people screaming, and then gun shots.

 A second 911 call was then received from Edward Matheson, 44, of Washougal, reporting that he interrupted a burglary at his residence. He reported being injured after confronting the suspects.

 Deputy’s and Skamania County EMS were dispatched to the scene. The initial information received was Matheson was upstairs in his residence watching TV, and later came down to use his computer. He the noticed his computer missing and walked outside, only to be confronted by an armed, masked man. A struggle ensued and it was reported the suspect was joined by at least 2 other subjects. Matheson sustained injuries to his head and arm, requiring transport to SW Washington Medical Center for treatment. He did report discharging a shotgun toward the suspects as the fled the area, in what was described as a newer, dark colored, Toyota Tacoma or Tundra pick up. He was unsure if he struck the truck or not. An area search was conducted, and the suspects were not located.
