Fatal Motor Vehicle Collision In Underwood

On 2/22/2021 at approximately 1:30PM our office received a call from a concerned citizen reporting a light, possibly from a vehicle, over a cliff in the Underwood, Washington area. The light could be seen from State Route 14, near milepost 61, looking up the bluff.

Deputies responded and evaluated the scene from the State Route as well as from milepost 11 on Cook-Underwood Road. They were able to access the area from Cook-Underwood Road along with members of Fire District #3. They confirmed it was an SUV, a maroon Honda Pilot, and occupied by the registered owner, David R. Graham, 67, of Willard, Washington. He was found deceased inside the SUV.

Graham had been reported missing the day prior by family members after not returning from a drive. The initial investigation indicates Mr. Graham’s vehicle left the roadway at milepost 11.2 on Cook-Underwood Road, traveled down the bluff approximately 550 feet, before coming to rest on a small outcropping. In speaking with witnesses it’s believed the collision occurred on 02/21/2021 at approximately 11:30 am. Graham died of injuries sustained in the collision.
