Skamania County Sheriff’s Office Seeking Unaccounted For Stolen Firearms In The Community

On May 26th, 2011 Skamania County Sheriff’s Office arrested Steven Tyler Hohman, a 27 year old Carson, WA man, on multiple counts of Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Trafficking Stolen Property, and Possession of Stolen Property.

Detective Tim Garrity and Deputy Jeremy Schultz followed up on information from a county resident who believed he had been sold a stolen firearm and after a thorough investigation, Hohman was arrested in the Stevenson area without incident. Out of the 35 firearms believed to have been in Hohman’s possession at one point, only 7 have been recovered.

While the Sheriff’s Office is relieved to have the suspect in custody, we are asking anyone who has recently purchased a firearm from a private party, to please come into our Civil Office during business hours and have your firearm checked for stolen. Hohman sold at least one firearm at the American Legion Hall in Carson, WA, and also sold several to Idaho area pawn shops. Hohman was also selling the firearms under the name of “Beau Kitchens” and traveling with a female and infant child. The firearms taken range in make and model and were rifles, handguns, and shotguns.

“Our office worked extremely hard on this case, with great results. Our main concern, now that Hohman is in custody, is there are still 27 firearms unaccounted for.” said Detective Garrity.

For questions regarding this case or turning in stolen firearms please contact Detective Garrity at Skamania County Sheriff’s Office 509-427-9490.
