    The Skamania County Jail is located next door to the Sheriff's Office. It is a 47 bed facility which keeps an average daily population of close to 34 inmates. We average close to 1000 bookings per year. This number has steadily grown for the past 10 years and is up over 300 yearly bookings in those 10 years. Our population has slowly grown for the past 10 years by nearly one inmate daily each year. Out of this facility we operate a work crew program in an effort to rehabilitate offenders as well as assist with projects throughout the county. These crews are able to open trails, litter pick roadways, clean dumpsites and many other projects that would not normally be done due to financial restraints. 

    The 911 Dispatch Center is also located next door the the Sheriff's Office. This center receives all 911 and business calls for Skamania County. They also Dispatch Law Enforcement, Medical services, Fire response and many other resources throughout Skamania County. This center answered over 47,000 regular calls and 7,180 911 calls during 2007. Of those calls answered they made 10,236 CAD calls that required a response from one or more of the above resources. This center can be a very busy place and is the main life support for all of Skamania County.
