Horn Rescue The When Deputies arrived they discovered the hiker was Washougal WA. resident David Wright, 50 years of age. Mr. Wright had left the trail and attempted to climb a nearby cliff. In doing so he lost his footing and fell approximately 20 feet, causing injuries to his shoulder. Personnel from Skamania County EMS, East Clark County Fire Rescue, Vancouver Fire Rescue, Wind River Search and Rescue, Clark County Search and Rescue, Silver Star Search and Rescue, and Washington State Dept. of Transportation were called to assist. Rescue personnel located Mr. Wright and first provided treatment for his non-life threatening injuries. Using a rope system the rescuers started the process of hoisting Mr. Wright up the cliff face to SR 14. At about 2300 hrs rescuers reached the top, and Mr. Wright was transported to SW Washington Medical Center. During the rescue one of rescuer received an ankle injury from falling rocks, as they were attempting to extract Mr. Wright from the cliff. An investigation determined alcohol was likely a contributing factor to the cause of the incident. We would like to thank all the agencies who assisted in this rescue.
