Skamania County Law Enforcement Explorer Post #0910
The Explorer Program provides young men and women with the opportunity to study the field of law enforcement and observe community service firsthand. The Explorer Program is a career development program, which emphasizes academic study, character development, and self-discipline. Explorers will also support Deputies and County/City personnel at functions where they may be called upon for a variety of tasks such as distributing information, parade details, fairground security, or assisting in searches of missing or overdue individuals, just to name a few.
The Skamania County L.E. Explorer post #0910 was organized in June 2010. Since then the program has twelve Explorers participating. We hold two meeting a month consisting of training and a business meeting. The explorers have elected officials taking charge of each meeting. The Explorers broaden their understanding and gain firsthand knowledge of the challenges and job skills that make up their community’s law enforcement services. In addition to gaining a working knowledge of police work, the participants have the opportunity to give back to their community, and enhance the Explorer’s preparation for future roles as citizens and community members of Skamania County.
Deputy Lyle is the Coordinator for the Skamania County Explorer Post #0910. Assisting as advisors, are Deputy Christian Lyle, School Resource Officer Steve Rasmussen, Officer Jay Barnett, Officer Jason Fritz, Juvenile Officer Angie Hollis, Civil Deputy Char Hartley, Civil Deputy Tana Berkemeyer, and overseeing the program is Chief Criminal Deputy Pat Bond.
