Tuesday, 23 August 2022

On August 20, 2022, at approximately 11:18pm, the Skamania County Sheriff’s Office, Skamania County EMS, and Fire District #1 & #2 responded to a single vehicle, multiple injury collision, on Loop Road at or near milepost 2.5, just north of Stevenson, Washington.

The preliminary investigation revealed a Toyota Corolla was traveling westbound when it lost control attempting to negotiate a curve in the roadway. The vehicle exited the paved road surface and impacted a tree on the south side of Loop Road.

The driver sustained injuries as did all four others in the car, ranging from 14 to 17 years of age. All the occupants were transported to metro area hospitals for treatment of their injuries, ranging from minor to critical. The lone female passenger died at the hospital.

The investigation is ongoing; however, it appears speed and/or alcohol are contributing factors in the collision.
