The Skamania County Jail is responsible for the housing and welfare of all subjects arrested within Skamania County. We also contract with the Department of Corrections, as well as, Battle Ground, Washougal and Camas Municipal Courts to house their inmates.
Skamania County Corrections Officers are certified by the Washington State Criminal Justice Training Commission and crossed trained/certified in Telecommunications & Dispatching. In 2010 Skamania County Corrections Officers performed 794 bookings, giving us a daily housing average of 22 inmates.
Skamania County Jail also has a Work Crew that utilizes in custody and out of custody individuals. Our Work Crew has assisted in several projects within Skamania County, such as, building Handicap Picnic Tables for the Columbia Gorge Scenic Area, manufacturing information signs for the Mt. St. Helens Volcanic Monument, in addition to the removal of noxious weeds from the Gifford Pinchot National Forest & the United States Army Corps of Engineers property. Work Crew also provides a service to our seniors by providing firewood to their residences. In 2010, Work Crew delivered 22 Cords of seasoned firewood.
