SUSPECT INVOLVED IN BURGLARY AND PURSUIT IN CUSTODY

In just over 24 hours, a suspect was taken into custody for a burglary and subsequent pursuit that occurred in western Skamania County. Nicholas Nelson, 18, of Washougal, Washington, was identified from a social media post released by the Skamania County Sheriff’s Office. After receiving information regarding Nelson’s identity, Detective Jeremy Schultz began investigating the lead. With assistance from the Clark County Sheriff’s Office, Detective Schultz was able to obtain information regarding Nelson’s vehicle and located Nelson at a residence in Clark County, just outside of the city of Washougal. Detective Schultz took Nelson into custody without incident. Nelson was transported to the Skamania County Correctional Facility, where he was booked for multiple charges, including Burglary and Attempting to Elude Police Vehicle. This case is still under an active investigation and more charges are pending. When asked about the investigation, Detective Schultz stated, “It was great to see it unfold.”

The Skamania County Sheriff’s Office wants to recognize the citizens who provided information regarding Nelson’s identity, the Clark County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance, and Detective Schultz for his outstanding investigation.
