The Skamania County Sheriff’s Office is seeking assistance in identifying the suspect/suspects involved in a shooting incident north of Carson, Washington within the Gifford Pinchot National Forest area. At approximately 11:30 p.m., on 05/06/2023, campers reported hearing a “revving” engine from a vehicle on the Forest Service 65 Road. Their camp was located just off of the 65 Road, approximately two miles north of the Panther Creek Campground. Shortly after hearing this vehicle, the campers reported their camp area being shot numerous times from a 9mm caliber firearm. The campers sheltered behind a tree and waited for the suspect vehicle to leave. Once the suspect vehicle departed, the campers left the area to obtain cell phone service to call law enforcement. The suspect vehicle was described as a lifted Toyota Tacoma or similar type vehicle. The Skamania County Sheriff’s Office is requesting anyone who has information regarding this shooting incident to call 509-427-9490 and dial “0” to provide information in this investigation.
