On Sunday, August 6th, 28 officers, deputies, and agents from the Hood River County Sheriff’s
Office, Klickitat County Sheriff’s Office, Skamania County Sheriff’s Office, Washington State
Fish and Wildlife Service, and the U.S. Forest Service conducted a multi agency boat / diver
training on Drano Lake. With the Skamania County Dive Rescue / Recovery Team being the
primary responding unit for underwater emergencies throughout the Columbia River Gorge
it is imperative that our Public Safety Divers and other law enforcement agencies have an
understanding on special equipment and boating protocols needed to conduct water search
and rescue missions in the safest manner possible.
