FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
On May 15th, 2026, at approximately 2:06 p.m., the Skamania County Sheriff’s Office Communications Center received a 9-1-1 report of an unresponsive adult female at the White Cap Apartments located in Stevenson, Washington.
Emergency medical personnel and law enforcement officers responded to the scene within minutes. Upon arrival, responders located an adult female deceased with significant traumatic injuries. Detectives immediately initiated a homicide investigation.
Investigators determined the incident occurred within the apartment complex and began processing multiple scenes associated with the investigation. Assistance was requested from the Clark County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Unit for additional crime scene processing and investigative support.
During the investigation, law enforcement learned the victim’s children were unaccounted for and may have been traveling with a person of interest connected to the case. As a precautionary measure, the children were entered into state and national missing and endangered child databases, and an AMBER Alert was requested.
Throughout the evening, investigators conducted extensive follow-up efforts, including reviewing surveillance footage, canvassing neighborhoods, and locating associated vehicles and residences within Stevenson.
At approximately 8:45 p.m., deputies located the adult male person of interest at an apartment complex in Stevenson. The individual was detained without incident, and the missing children were located safe inside the residence. The children were subsequently placed into protective custody with the assistance of the Washington State Department of Children, Youth, and Families (DCYF).
The person of interest was subsequently arrested in connection with this investigation. At this time, investigators do not believe there is any outstanding threat to the community.
The investigation remains active and ongoing. The deceased female was transported to the Clark County Medical Examiner’s Office, where an autopsy will be conducted to determine the official cause and manner of death.
