Positions are “Voluntary”, and each member provides their own gear. “All” team members will be certified in Basic Scuba, Advanced Scuba, Rescue Diver, and First Aid / CPR. Higher levels of diver education are encouraged. All divers fall under the jurisdiction of the Skamania County Sheriff and a thorough background will be done. No controlled substances, including marihuana will be allowed. Living in Skamania County is not required but must live within responding distance, have a valid driver’s license and a vehicle that can carry gear and can handle extreme conditions, such as snow/ice and gravel roads. To read more about our team, please go to the Skamania Sheriffs website, click on the header “About” and scroll down to DIVE TEAM. There you will read requirements/expectations, see photos of past team operations, and a highlighted section to download the team application. If you meet these standards and want to be part of a very specialized highly motivated dedicated team, complete the application, make copies of your driver’s license and diver certification cards then either mail, or e-mail the completed package to Arne Gonser (Sgt. Ret.) Dive Team Supervisor at the Skamania County Sheriff’s Office. Applicants who qualify to the minimum standards and pass the background check, oral boards will then be scheduled.
