At approximately 8:26 am on 03/27/2023, the Skamania County Sheriff’s Office was notified of another threat of a school shooting made at Wind River Middle School in Carson. Based on the nature and specificity of the threat, Wind River Middle School was placed in a lock down and students were held at the neighboring Carson Elementary School. Skamania County Sheriff’s Office law enforcement personnel responded to both schools and subsequently took various measures to ensure school safety, working in conjunction with school staff. Once the Wind River Middle School was determined safe for students to return, law enforcement personnel assisted in checking students and their belongings for dangerous weapons. The person responsible for making the threat has not been determined at this time and this investigation is active.
