On Sunday, August 10th the Skamania County Sheriff’s Office Dive Rescue / Recovery Team
hosted a multi agency mock training exercise in the Lower Wind River. Two staged injured
hikers were inserted into the river with a variation of injuries. Teams consisting of members
of the Sheriff’s Office Dive Team, Carson Fire Dept., Skamania E.M.S., and Skamania Search and
Rescue were dispatched to locate, evaluate, then float the subjects downriver using their pontoon
boat and recue sled. A total of 20 rescuers participated in todays exercise.
